About me
I was born in New Zealand and have lived in the UK since 1988. When I left New Zealand in 1985 I lived
in Melbourne, Australia for a year followed by a year in Paris. After 12 years in London, I moved out to Earls Colne
in Essex to be with Clare, my partner.
I am a Master NLP Practitioner and a retired nurse. I am studying NLPt - the psychotherapy branch of
NLP - with a goal of registering with the UKCP. I have been practising for the last two years.
I first encountered NLP around 1980 when it seem like a breath of fresh air in therapeutic
terms. I read all the books I could get my hands on (very few at that time) but there was no training in
New Zealand back then. Nonetheless I tried out the techniques and strategies with good results.
During the 15 years I was nursing I found NLP to be helpful in getting patients better sooner. It
was so much part of how I thought I stopped being aware of it. In 1997, I finally decided to train in NLP and have been
a steady attender at Marlin NLP through to the
psychotherapy program.
While I am committed to NLP as an extremely useful technology, I use it as a tool in my interactions,
not as a thing in itself – I don't 'do' NLP. I believe NLP is most effective when it's not noticed and becomes
part of how you are: I am curious, open, challenging, inquisitive and playful.
